Listen by Rosie Caristea

To the silence; words unspoken,
To the tears; fast cascading,
To the eyes intent looking,
To the heartbeat; throbbing; aching.

Hear the cry of frustration,
lips quivering in pain,
Hear the tremor of voices,
hands that are trembling,
And oh! hear the gnashing of teeth,
the agony of trying,
the controlled power,
the dagger stare!

There is the sound of anger,
the sound of loathe and hatred,
There is wrath in silence,
only if you refrain from talking;
you’ll be able to hear them.
