The tail of the dragon.

The clock ticks in the Cathedral square.
A step on time’s endless march.
And those we fight and those we hate
Are nothing, no more, gone. But the
Dragon within remains, passed on
from blood to blood.

The clock ticks in the old church tower.
And faith and love and hope
flicker like a dancing light. And the
Dragon is calmed by the sight.

The clock ticks on the mantle piece of a Pope.
A step on time’s endless march.
The light is out shone by the dragon,
and life swirls like a storm about us.
And the people we hate and the people
we love, all gone, all gone, all gone.

But the dragon within remains passed
on from blood to blood.
